Sammy Hagar opened the Cabo Wabo Cantina in 1990 when Cabo San Lucas was far from the well-known vacation destination that is known today, it was more of a simple small fishing town that Sammy came to love. The menu at Cabo Wabo is incredible from top to bottom and you could simply create a meal of the appetizers. If you have one dish you must try it is the coconut shrimp. You can taste the freshness in each tender bite and the fresh coconut makes this unlike anything you will find in the states. For a truly over-the-top dish, the surf & turf burger is just that. A beef and chorizo patty topped with grilled shrimp, onions and cheese make this a memorable burger. You can also go with the classic surf and turf with their perfectly prepared steak. Also, they have fajitas, stuff mushrooms, the waburrito and more. The quality of the food shines throughout the menu and will almost make you forget that you came in originally because of this being Cabo Wabo.
If you are looking for nightlife, Cabo Wabo has that covered nightly. Cabo Wabo was designed just as much for live music as it was to be a restaurant and bar and they have live music every night. The experience is always electric at Cabo Wabo, not only from the live music, but the atmosphere brings it all to life and you can feel that energy from the staff to the guests as it is always a lively experience. While the live music will always be at a high level, the other great thing about Cabo Wabo is you never know when Sammy will drop in to play a few songs. To amplify how much Sammy loves Cabo and Cabo Wabo, every year he makes sure he takes the stage at Cabo Wabo to celebrate his birthday. To put it into perspective, think about how many worldwide rock stars would perform in front of a few hundred people on a small stage to celebrate his birthday? Sammy is the only one that comes to mind and experiencing his birthday performance you will see that pure love and joy shine through and that same love and joy he shares on the stage he also shares in every aspect of Cabo Wabo. Sammy made his first foray into the liquor world with an obvious spirit to pair with Cabo Wabo: his Cabo Wabo Tequila. Then, in 2017, Sammy launched Santo Spirits, a line of tequila that he made sure was crafted authentically as it was meant to be. Santo Tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber agave and is additive-free, bringing the true flavor of tequila to each bottle. Up next Sammy created his Beach Bar Rums which he did not disappoint with flavors that get you to the beach wherever you are. The Red Head Macadamia Nut version is the most unique and flavorful rum you will find anywhere. This is great for any beach cocktail but the combination of macadamia nut flavor and cherry added to the rum makes this very easy to drink neat. The other very tasty version is the Kola Spiced Rum, which has hints of vanilla and coffe to make the ultimate rum and coke. The last thing Sammy had to conquer in the liquor world was beer, and he did just that with his recently introduced Red Rocker Lager. It would seem Sammy created this with an homage to Mexico, as he brewed it in the classic Mexican style. It is a light and refreshing beer that is perfect to enjoy while spending the day at the beach.
